2 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday January 16, 2009 www.oakvillebeaver.com Prince Michael Drive eight-storey condo clears another development hurdle orer ii The final major holdup to the development of an eight-storey condo in the area of Dundas Street East and Prince Michael Drive was swept aside on Monday as Oakville's Planning and Development Council deemed a prerequisite study complete. The Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) approved construction of the condo, located at 1142 Dundas St. E, back in May of 2007 over the objections of many area residents who had purchased their homes with the understanding that local structures would be limited to four storeys in height. The developer, Ashley Oaks Homes, intends to build an apartment complex consisting of 375 apartment units and 60 townhouse units for a total of 435 units. However, construction was delayed when Halton Region expressed concerns that adequate water and wastewater capacity may not exist for the proposed develop- ment. As such, the Town placed a holding provision on the land, which councillors voted to remove on Monday after Halton Region informed them that the area does have sufficient water and wastewater capacity.
