The Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) approved construction of the condo, located at 1142 Dundas St. E, back in May of 2007 over the objections of many area residents who had purchased their homes with the understanding that local structures would be limited to four storeys in height. The developer, Ashley Oaks Homes, intends to build an apartment complex consisting of 375 apartment units and 60 townhouse units for a total of 435 units. However, construction was delayed when Halton Region expressed concerns that adequate water and wastewater capacity may not exist for the proposed develop- ment. As such, the Town placed a holding provision on the land, which councillors voted to remove on Monday after Halton Region informed them that the area does have sufficient water and wastewater capacity.
