The Venom avenged a round-robin loss to Brantford CYO -- Oakville's only defeat in the tournament -- with a 31-17 rout of Brantford in the championship game. Oakville had reached the final with a win over another Venom squad, the major bantam A team, 54-31 in the semifinals. In round-robin play, the major bantam AA Venom pounded the Halton Hills Hoosiers 42-9, doubled the major bantam A Venom 62-31 and lost 42-39 to Brantford. Members of the team are Morgan Caissie, Alyssa Booth, Victoria Ambler, Emma Newman, Stephanie Desgagne, Charlotte Walker, Megan Piercey, Lydia Gibson, Kristina Rajacic, Tori Freeman, Heather Richmond, Laura D'aurizio and Holly Rowe. Oakville will play its first regular-season home game June 6, when it hosts the Sault Ste. Marie Steelers at Bronte Athletic Field. The Longhorns will also be home on July 11 against the North Bay Bulldogs, July 18 against the Sarnia Imperials and July 31 versus the Tri-City Outlaws. All Longhorns home games are slated for 7 p.m. starts. Oakville has one pre-season game scheduled as well, a contest with the Toronto Raiders May 16. That game will either be played at Bronte Athletic Field or Burlington's Corpus Christi Catholic Secondary School.
