www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday February 20, 2009 - 9 Maple syrup flowing at Bronte Creek Bronte Creek Provincial Park is hosting its annual Maple Syrup Festival beginning Feb. 28 and through the weekends in March, as well as daily on March Break from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (March 16- 20). "Being part of co-ordinating the Maple Syrup Festival has been an amazing experience. The park is a truly enchanting place to be and it is the perfect place to host a maple syrup festival. The festival is traditional and incorporates maple sugar demonstrations, delicious pancakes, historical buildings, wagon rides, artifacts and ongoing activities that are high quality for a low cost," said Angela Vincent, assistant event co-ordinator. Guests of the Maple Syrup Festival will be treated to free wagon rides that take them to a heated pancake house where they will be able to purchase fresh pancakes with pure maple syrup and a choice of crisp bacon or sausages. They will also be able to join guided tours of Maple Lane, watch demonstrations by 1890s-costumed interpreters of how to make maple sugar and explore artifacts from the 1890s in the Maple Museum. Adults and children have plenty to see and do. Visitors will be able to play the sap lid game, try to carry buckets of sap with a neck yoke, and complete their maple passport. They will also be able to explore the 100-year-old Spruce Lane Farmhouse, take pictures of wildlife and park scenery and visit the candy shanty and Gift Shoppe. For information about the park programs and tours, call 905-827-6911, ext. 228. Online information is available at www.BronteCreek.org.
