Oakville carried a 1-0 series lead into last night's game by virtue of a 7-2 pounding it laid on the Cougars Thursday at Joshua's Creek Arenas. Jeremy Welsh and Tyler Leimbrock each scored twice to pace the Blades, who led 3-0 after two periods and blew the game open in the final frame. Kellan Lain, Kyle Badham and Chris Rocca were the other Oakville goalscorers. Eleven Blades players earned at least one assist in support of netminder Matt Hache, who stopped 27 of 29 shots. Game 3 of the series is scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday) at Joshua's Creek Arenas, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Oakville Longhorns will recognize their top performers from last Northern Football Conference season with an awards dinner tomorrow (Sunday) at Great Embers Grille. The evening will include a buffet dinner, prizes, awards (both team and allstar) and refreshments.
