The Oakville medallists skate on various high-performance teams around the GTA. Oakville's Kathryn Donville, Courtney Heffernan, Katie Orlando and Madison Ruton were part of the Mystic Motion team that won the Canadian Novice Festival national championship. Mystic Motion's School's Out performance earned a score of 80.48 points, 2.07 points more than second-place Ice Image. Danyel Wright-Dykstra, skating for the Nexxice senior competitive team, also received a team championship placement at the event. Nexxice earned a combined score of 221.10. Oakville Skating Club members Salima Ladhani, Emily Matyskiel and Emily Woods won national silver medals at the Junior Festival level as part of E-Motion's performance to Lion King, which earned the team 115.9 points. Sisters Madison and Jacqueline Varey were part of the Gold Ice team that finished second in the Junior competitive division, earning 156.10 points. "The Oakville Skating Club is very proud of all of our more than 100 synchronized skaters in the club," said Michael LeBlanc, president of the Oakville Skating Club. "We are especially proud of how well (these 10 skaters) presented the skills they have learned through our programs by medaling at the national level." The 2009 BMO Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships conclude the competitive season for synchronized skating.
