OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, March 20, 2009 · 26 Historic photos wanted Oakville Galleries and The Oakville Beaver have teamed up to give Oakville residents a chance to submit pictures from or about the 1920s. A selection of the pictures submitted to the Galleries will be published in The Oakville Beaver every second week for nine weeks starting in April. This photo series leads up to the Roaring '20s Fundraising Gala at Oakville Galleries on June 12. The event, which supports the Galleries' exhibitions and programming, will take guests back in time to a fancy-free world of flapper girls and strings of pearls. Tickets are available by contacting Oakville Galleries at 905-844-4402. To highlight Oakville's local history, Oakville Galleries has also requested photos from this period from the Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate and from the Oakville Historical Society. The Galleries hopes that the project will uncover some neverbefore-seen photos of Oakville's important history and cultural diversity. Photos can be submitted with a brief description to photos@oakvillegalleries.com. Participants can also mail or drop off a disc at Gairloch Gardens with the title, "Relive the Roaring '20s Photo Series." To have your original photographs scanned, contact Tracey Shepherd at tracey@oakvillegalleries.com.
