Clearly her motion does not represent the wishes of the Ward 4 community. I was interested also to learn that Oakville is the only community in Halton that does not have dual-track schools. It certainly appears that the problems we are experiencing here are a result of the large interest in French Immersion programming, thus because our community is currently single-track French Immersion the result is the over-population at Ecole Forest Trail and resulting potential upheaval of English track students. I think that the HDSB needs to revisit the potential of dual track schools if the result would be continuity for our children within the schools that they have developed a sense of belonging and relationships built with friends and teachers and therefore having a positive impact on self-esteem and a positive education experience. The statistics presented at the information meeting stated that studies have shown that the quality of education was the same at single vs. dual track programming; I would certainly have no problem with my child attending a dual track school if the result would provide a balanced educational experience and all students could remain at the school in their local community. I sincerely hope that the trustees will hear the voices of the Ward 4 community and disregard BatemanOlmstead's proposed motion which again clearly does not reflect the desires of the Ward 4 community.
