Turn out the lights and have some fun on Earth Hour What will you be doing when the lights go out for Earth Hour -- from 8-9 p.m. on Saturday, March 28? You could be dining by candlelight -- either at home or at a participating restaurant -- attending a candlelight concert, playing a board game at home with the family, camping out in the living room with a flashlight or enjoying a party with family and friends. There's lots to do in Oakville when the lights go out Saturday. At St. Jude's Anglican Church, located at 160 William St., there will be a candlelight concert for Earth Hour at 8 p.m. Presented by Celebration of the Arts, the concert is called Out of the Dark and will host guests Jackie Richardson -- Canada's first lady of gospel, blues and jazz -- as well as the Oakville Children's Choir and the Regent Park School of Music Choir. Tickets cost $15 per person, with proceeds going towards The Community Foundation of Oakville's Environmental Fund. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact St. Jude's Anglican Church at 905-844-3972 or go to L'Atelier Grigorian, 210 Lakeshore Rd. E. A Candlelight Walk will also be held on Saturday at 8 p.m. Participants will assemble at 8 p.m. at George's Square, located at Sumner Avenue and Trafalgar Road (just north of Lakeshore Road). Those taking part will be walking with candles (bring your own -- beeswax is suggested), chanting "Earth Hour, Earth Hour, Turn off the Power" and travelling along one side of Lakeshore and back along the other side to the Town Square.
