The top earner was Chief Administrative Officer/Town Manager Raymond Green who had a salary of $248,461 with $871 in taxable benefits for 2008. Commissioner of Infrastructure Services David Bloomer, Commissioner of Planning and Development Jane Clohecy, Commissioner of Corporate Services Gord Lalonde and Commissioner of Community Services Domenic Lunardo all shared second place with matching salaries of $171,957 and taxable benefits, which ranged from $600-$800. Oakville Mayor/Regional Councillor Rob Burton brought up the rear with a third place salary of $148,591 and $429 in taxable benefits. The total number of employees making $100,000 at the Halton Catholic District School Board jumped significantly moving from 48 in 2007 to 61 in 2008. This new total included 46 principals, an increase of 10 over last year's figures, and nine superintendents. The then Director of Education Luciano Piovesan earned the most in this category with a salary of $190,134 and $9,435 in taxable benefits. Superintendent of Business Services/Treasurer Paul McMahon came next with a salary of $153,148 and $1,240 in taxable benefits while third place was a tie between Superintendent of Education Richard MacDonald, Executive Officer of W e are the e Champions! Sports-Arts-Academics Human Resources Joseph O'Hara, Superintendent of Education Larry Clifford and Superintendent of Facilities Giacomo Corbacio who all earned $141,662 with between $1,400 and $1,900 in taxable benefits. The Halton District School Board also experienced a jump in the number of employees making more than $100,000. In 2007, 91 employees qualified for this list while this year 139 made the cut including 73 principals and 10 superintendents. "The increase is mostly due to administrators. They receive salary increases according to their salary schedule through their normal progression," said Marnie Denton, Halton District School Board communications manager. "We just happened to have a number of administrators who have reached that senior level of the grid because of their experience, which we are very grateful for." Director of Education Wayne Joudrie earned the most at $217,181 with no taxable benefits, followed by Associate Director of Education Barry Finlay and Acting Associate Director of Education Ruth Peden who both earned $148,023 with $5,460 in taxable benefits. Executive Officer of Human Resources Dawn Beckett-Morton, Superintendent Odette Bartnicki, Superintendent Jeff Blackwell, Superintendent Gerry Cullen, Superintendent Steven Parfeniuk and Superintendent Dane Tutton all had the third largest salary in the Halton District School Board category at $157,057 with $5,460 in taxable benefits. A secondary school teacher also made it to the $100,000 list for engaging in numerous other school related duties. Sheridan College also reported an increase in the number of employees making $100,000 or more with the total moving from 30 in 2007 to 70 in 2008. "There are more senior level folks here now and the top pay level ($96,000) is so close to the $100,000 mark it doesn't take much for a faculty member to be on that list," said Mary Preece, vice president of Academics for Sheridan College. "So, if a faculty member taught one continuing education course or had any other kind of income from the college there would be quite a significant number of senior faculty who would be at the over $100,000 mark." Halton Healthcare employees on the list doubled from 40 in 2007 to 80 in 2008 with officials again chalking this up to an extra pay period in 2008 and long time employees moving up in pay scale.
