OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, May 13, 2009 · 12 Hopes riding on car wash Oakville resident Brendan Aldersley will once again cycle in The Ride to Conquer Cancer. After raising more than $3,500 last year, Aldersley will ride again this year and is hosting his second annual car wash to help raise funds to participate. The car wash is Saturday, May 16 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., at Glen Abbey United Church on Nottinghill Gate. "About five years ago my father, Robert Aldersley was diagnosed with Grade IV glioblastoma multiforme brain tumour," said Aldersley. "At the time, he was told by doctors he had only one year to live. This drastically changed our lives and that of many around us. With our high hopes, and best wishes and a lot of prayers he still stands beside me today in the battle against cancer," he said. The Ride to Conquer Cancer will take place June 13-14, as participants travel 200km from Toronto to Niagara Falls.
