Royal LePage cleaning house for homeless with garage sale By Angela Blackburn OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF 19 · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, May 15, 2009 Royal LePage agents in Oakville will be cleaning house for the homeless when they host their National Garage Sale for Shelter on Saturday, May 23. The 250 Royal LePage agents in Oakville will be joining some 14,000 in communities across Canada in hosting the event that will split proceeds between the local women's shelter (Halton Women's Place) and the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. The garage sale is being dubbed Great Deals for a Great Cause and will run from 8 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of the Oak Park Royal LePage office in north central Oakville. As those attending peruse the goods in tents and enjoy a coffee or donut as they do, they will be supporting women and children in the community and across Canada who need emergency, temporary shelter. "It is a `first time' event both in the community and at a national level," said Melissa Cescon who is helping organize the event locally on behalf of Royal LePage Real Estate Services Ltd. With lots of support from Royal LePage agents and the community, Cescon said 100 per cent of the proceeds can go to the cause. With the event taking place in communi- ties across Canada, Cescon said Oakville is being challenged to raise the most. So far, many have pitched in and there will be lots to do. Local singer Antonella Vizzini will perform, the local fire department will have a presence and Phil Soper, president of Royal LePage Canada will attend.
