Westlake, Canada drop sledge semi The United States exacted a little revenge on the Canadian sledge hockey team. The U.S. beat Canada 2-1 in a shootout in the semifinals yesterday (Thursday) at the Sledge Hockey World Championships in the Czech Republic. The last time the teams met, Canada beat the Americans in a shootout to win the gold medal at the Hockey Canada Cup in March. Canada trailed 1-0 on a second period goal by the U.S. in the semifinal but Marc Dorian forced overtime, scoring for Canada with 1:41 remaining in the third. Canada will now face Norway or Japan in the bronze medal game tomorrow (Saturday). Oakville's Greg Westlake had a goal and an assist in the opening period to stake Canada to a 2-0 lead in the team's final round-robin game against Japan Tuesday. Canada went on to a 7-0 victory, its third straight win at the tournament, to win its pool. Westlake began the tournament with three goals and two assists in four games.
