Police said the raid was the culmination of a two-month investigation in Oakville. This investigation came to an end on Victoria Day when officers of the Halton Regional Police Service Drug and Morality Bureau executed a search warrant at a Newcastle Crescent home. As a result of the raid, police seized around 70 grams of cocaine, four grams of powdered ecstasy, $900 in counterfeit money and an assortment of trafficking paraphernalia. Police also seized a 2001 Honda Civic. The combined street value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around $5,800. Ricardo Kastner, 28, of Oakville, is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance (ecstasy), possession of counterfeit currency and three counts of driving while disqualified. Police are expecting more people to come forward as the thefts are discovered. All of the suspects, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have been charged with multiple counts of theft under $5,000 and multiple counts of possession of stolen property. One of the young persons has also been charged with obstruction for giving police a false name at the time of his arrest. Halton police are reminding residents to keep their car doors locked, to keep valuables out of their cars or failing that, to at least keep them out of sight. Parents are also being advised to question their children if they stay out late and then show up with expensive property they couldn't possibly afford.
