47 · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, May 29, 2009 High school spring sports to reach climax Tuesday As busy a week as its been on the Halton high school sports scene, things are about to get even busier. Regional champions in senior and junior boys' and girls' soccer as well as girls' softball and slow-pitch will be determined Tuesday at Milton's Lions Sports Field, while the Halton boys' baseball finalists will also be decided Tuesday. Matchups in those games were not available yesterday (Thursday) afternoon. Wednesday, the Halton girls' Division 2 rugby title game will be played at Burlington's Sherwood Forest Park. It will be the fifth and final rugby final of the spring season. Oakville Trafalgar won the senior girls' championship Monday and the senior boys' title Wednesday. The senior boys' Division 2 final was contested yesterday (Thursday) between the Loyola Hawks and White Oaks Wildcats, a game that ended after the Beaver's press deadlines, while the junior boys' Division 1 and 2 clashes are scheduled for today (Friday). OT and Georgetown were slated to meet in the junior Division 1 final, a 2:15 p.m. start, followed by the Division 2 match between Loyola and the Aldershot Lions. Both games were to be played at Sherwood Forest Park. In addition, Oakville's top track and field athletes will be busy preparing for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) meet, which will be held Thursday to Saturday at the University of Toronto. Top-four finishers at this week's South Regional meet in St. Catharines advanced to OFSAA. MICHAEL IVANIN / SPECIAL TO THE OAKVILLE BEAVER Titans teams split first home Pine Grove claims three Gapes pennants games in OMFA history Playing in front of a large crowd at Iroquois Ridge High School, Oakville Titans house league atom teams earned a split in the Oakville Minor Football Association's first-ever home games. The Titans Tank team got three touchdowns from Jackson Bales and another from Greg Piper to post a 27-13 victory over Mississauga's Thundering Herd. Jeff Ulozas was good on three of four converts for Oakville. In the second game of the atom doubleheader, the Titans Renegades were defeated by another Mississauga Thundering Herd squad. Felix Mba scored a pair of majors for the Renegades and Trenton Ford also reached the end zone. Mississauga scored the winning touchdown late in the game and shortly after Renegades linebacker Andrew Lovett, who made several key tackles in the game and also had an interception, was injured. The Titans' rep peewee team travels to Ajax and the rep junior varsity team hosts Hamilton this weekend in the first South Central Ontario Football League action for OMFA teams. Joshua Creek, Linbrook and Forest Trail each won one race. Joshua Creek crossed the line first in the bantam girls' relay, Linbrook won the bantam boys' race, and Forest Trail was the midget girls' champion. Burlington schools Alexander's (tyke), Tom Thomson (bantam) and John T.
