31 · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, June 5, 2009 Oakville Art Society auction slated for June 13 The Oakville Art Society's 43rd Annual Art Auction will be held on Saturday, June 13 at the Oakville Centennial Gallery, 120 Navy St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the auction starts at 7:30 p.m. As in past years, the auction features original works of art ­ paintings, sculpture and pottery, by emerging and established artists from all over Ontario, including works by the late Tom Chatfield and Alana Kingsland. The work exhibited and sold at the Oakville Art Society is among the best in Canada and should not be missed. A special feature is the silent auction, which features smaller works done by the main auction participants. The viewing time of the exhibit will be: June 6-13 from Tuesday to Thursday from noon to 9 p.m., Friday from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. This event is an opportunity to view and acquire excellent pieces of art as well as to support the society in its mission of fostering and encouraging the visual arts in the community.
