Rik Emmett joins ex-manager's son for benefit concert Canadian guitar icon Rik Emmett of Triumph fame, and up-and-coming guitarist Dylan Munro will be teaming up at Sheridan College Monday -- in the name of breast cancer. Munro's dad, Ross, who operates Rock This Way on Speers Road, is behind the concert Rik Emmett -- everywhere concert for Breast Cancer. The senior Munro managed Emmett when Emmett's band Triumph was in its heyday. He also managed Emmett during part of his solo career. While the famous Canadian guitarist has agreed to help with this cause, it will be Dylan who is up front and centre as his band, everywhere, opens for Emmett and his band. The concert is Monday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Sheridan College's Heaslip Hall. Tickets cost $25 and are available through www.rockthisway.ca or 905845-3600. The impetus of the concert is not any of this trio, it's Dylan's aunt Kathy McGhie who battled, and survived, breast cancer several years ago. At that time, Dylan, his mom, Karen, and Aunt Kathy of Burlington, all took part in the CIBC Run for the Cure. That inspired Dylan to write the song PINK. As one thing led to another, it turned out that PINK was then featured in the opening ceremonies of last year's CIBC Run for the Cure. Then Princess Margaret Hospital was in touch with the youth who is in Grade 9 at White Oaks Secondary School and will be featuring his song on its website in the coming months. After writing PINK, Dylan teamed up with the other members of his band to form everywhere. He will be joined by them -- Mike Rovinelli, Any Marinangeli and Vince Di Francesco -- on stage Monday.
