13 · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, July 3, 2009 Waterfront Trail cyclists in town Sunday The second annual Great Waterfront Trail Adventure (GWTA) will pit stop at Oakville's Lakeside Park Sunday morning as part of the 730km cycling tour. As the cyclists take a break en route, there will be lots for them to do -- the Town of Oakville will have free yoga for them, Oakville Museum will give out free passes for tours and lawn games, the Thomas House will be open for tours and the Halton Youth Symphony will perform a free concert. CyclePath Oakville will be on site, too, to provide free bike exams and safety workshops from 9 a.m. to noon. The cyclists are expected to arrive around 9:45 a.m. Mayor Rob Burton and councillors, Halton police and staff from the Town and CyclePath will be there to greet them. Members of the public are also welcome to attend at Lakeside Park, located at 144 Front St., at Oakville Harbour. Cyclists participating in the second annual GWTA will travel 730 km over eight days along the Waterfront Trail from Niagara-On-The-Lake to Rivière Beaudette, Quebec. The second annual Great Waterfront Trail Adventure Tour is taking place July 4-11. Approximately 240 cyclists from five Canadian provinces and six U.S. states, are taking part and will ride through 41 Ontario communities.
