An open house will be held Sunday, July 5 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Science and art combine in disLifethreads: A Visual Exploration of our Natural World is a unique fine art exhibition that explores the extraordinary diversity of the world we live in. Science and art are skillfully combined by this group of 14 artists to create realistic representations of flowers and plants, insects, birds, mammals and habitats. The exhibition runs at Oakville Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Rd. until Aug. 6 with an opening reception Tuesday, July 7 from 7-9 p.m. Canadian musical coming to W.E.S.T. Homechild -- The Musical is being presented by West End Studio Theatre from July 16 to 25 at Sheridan College. The musical was written by playwright/composer Barb Perkins from Erin, who formerly resided in Oakville. She is also the granddaughter of a homechild. The show is a highly-emotional musical tribute to the homechildren and their descendants, who today make up 10 per cent of the Canadian population. There are millions of descendants worldwide, and there will be many in the audience in July, as this show tells the story of their beloved ancestors. Homechild -- The Musical is directed by Yo Mustafa and produced by John O'Hara. The show runs July 16, 17, 18, 22, 23 and 24 at 8 p.m. and July 19 and 25 at 2 p.m. General admission tickets cost $25. The musical will be presented on the main stage in Heaslip Hall at Sheridan College, 1430 Trafalgar Rd. Parking is free.
