If these increases are passed, the Halton Region development charge will have increased to 278 per cent of what it was five years ago. The charges have gone from $13,973 to $38,790 per modest new home without any increase in the services provided. On July 15, we are asking for a 60-day deferral so that there can be some meaningful consultation based on accurate information so that all residents and stakeholders can have their say. That's only fair. We need to take time to get this right. There are way too many Halton jobs and families at risk to do otherwise. LYNDA J.
