Donna Novakovic and her husband awoke to loud popping sounds at around 3:30 a.m. When the couple went out to investigate, they found that all three of their recycling bins were engulfed in flames. "We were just in shock. We had to blink twice to make sure this was really happening and then we called 911 right away," said Novakovic. "It's pretty incredible that someone would do that." The Oakville Fire Department arrived moments later and put out the fire, which had been fuelled by the various papers, cardboard and plastic within the boxes. Novakovic is asking area residents to keep an eye out for suspicious behaviour, especially at night, and is also asking those responsible to reconsider their actions before someone gets hurt. "They think it's a prank, but it could become a bigger problem," she said. "The recycling bins were quite close to my husband's car. The car could have caught on fire, which could have spread to the trees and the house. We have three small children and they were really freaked out when they woke up in the morning and saw the debris in front of our house. As much as they think it's a prank, it's pretty scary to other people." Come in now for a "Herbal Magic has taught me how to live a healthier lifestyle."
