11 · OAKVILLE BEAVER Thursday, July 23, 2009 Home run for Dream Centre NIKKI WESLEY / OAKVILLE BEAVER MAYOR'S INVITATIONAL: A host of local companies and organizations joined Mayor Rob Burton at the Mayor's Invitational Tournament (MIT), an annual softball event hosted by Burton, to raise more than $107,000 to help build the $4.5 million Dream Centre for Kerr Street Ministries (KSM). In the end, the Oakville Professional Fire Fighters Association came from behind to beat Longo's 6-5 and claim winner status in the championship game of the 12-team tournament held at Trafalgar and Glenashton Parks on Thursday, July 16. Other participating teams were from Liuna, Trinison, Cogeco Cable, BOT Construction, Rand, Liuna, Ellis Don, ScotiaBank, Ian Martin Ltd., the Town of Oakville and KSM. The Dream Centre will be an 18,000 square-foot facility designed to serve as the hub for all of KSM's programs and services offered to those in need in Oakville's Kerr community.
