With a curriculum running from September 2009 to May 2010, this choir is designed to introduce children to the art of choral singing. Through the use of songs, games and Orff instruments, auditioned children will have fun while gaining fundamental skills in music. Rehearsals will be held once per week and the children will have the opportunity to participate in the Oakville Children's Choir concert series. The program is designed for those children who like to sing but are not yet ready for the Cherub choir. It is intended to encourage their interest in music and singing, and encourage them to continue on as an OCC Chorister. There are many other benefits of choir participation for young children such as self-discipline, performance skills, teamwork, creative expression and develop early friendships. Prior musical experience is not a requirement for this program.
