33 · OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, August 26, 2009 2009-2010 WINTER BASKETBALL LEAGUE The Oakville Basketball Club is the premier basketball club in our community. With approximately one thousand athletes in our house league programs and over 200 rep level athletes. We have proudly worked with Basketball Ontario and Canada Basketball to implement the Steve Nash program in our Winter House League over the last two years. This season we will apply even further focus on the development of our young athletes as they progress in our house leagues by adding a complimentary development camp with our rep level coaches. The Winter Basketball League is for boys and girls ages 8 to 17 who want to learn basketball skills in a fun environment with friends. Come out and join us for on court fun and excitement while learning the FUNdamentals of passing, shooting and ball handling with our experienced coaches. Games will be played on Sundays with one 1 hour practice during the week. League is open to anyone who wants to learn the game and have FUN. Uniform and balls provided with award presentation at the end of the season. Season runs from October through to March - This year all of our house league coaches will be fully certified as community level coaches by the Ontario Basketball Association. - The structured curriculum of the Steve Nash program will be implemented fully. - We are proud to work together with the OBA and Basketball Canada to provide high quality programs in our community. - Our coaches and teams will benefit through further level development from our 24 high level rep coaches who have committed to developing the quality of the house league programs. - The Oakville Basketball Club was tremendously successful last season fielding many AAA level teams, winning three division 1 provincial medals and an Eastern Canadian Championships (unprecedented in Oakville Basketball history). - The Oakville Basketball Club had another excellent rep season last year. Boasting many AAA level teams and we are proud to be the home of the undefeated Major Atom Girls Provincial AAA Champions!!.
