Muscular Dystrophy boot drive Saturday The Oakville Professional Fire Fighters Association are once again coordinating their efforts with Dorval Crossing in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada by holding a Boot Drive and Family Fun Day on Saturday. Last year, this event raised more than $5,200, and the Fire Fighters and Dorval Crossing look to beat that number this Saturday. The event is at Dorval Crossing, 200-240 North Service Road (QEW and Dorval Drive) from 11-3 p.m. There will be free slides, inflatable bouncers and clowns for the kids; all donated by Dorval Crossing. The community will be able to see their fire fighters up close and personal, ask them questions and take a close look at their fire truck. "Look at what the Fire Fighters and the other volunteers keep on doing for MDC. They're wonderful. We need them, and we love them, and we need lots of other people to get involved as volunteers. Understanding and involvement -- that's what helps," explains Danielle Campo, Muscular Dystrophy Canada's National Ambassador. Muscular Dystrophy Canada has been committed to improving the quality of life for thousands of Canadians with neuromuscular disorders and funding leading research for the discovery of therapies and cures for neuromuscular disorders. 29 · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, August 28, 2009 Warning: may lead to diabetes If channel surfing is your only form of exercise, see your doctor about diabetes today. www.diabetes.ca 1-800-BANTING (226-8464) Young artists asked for submissions Halton's second annual Waste Management calendar cover art contest will run from Sept.1-Oct. 9.
