Poetry Café, photo contest return The organizers of Oakville's Poetry Café would like to invite all those who appreciate September, and other beautiful words, to the first poetry event of the 2009-2010 season. Join them at the Moonshine Café, 137 Kerr St., from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20 when they will feature Canadian poet Peter Jailall and guest poet, Ernie Enola. Peter Jailall was born in Guyana in 1944. He is a poet, storyteller, and social activist who lives in Mississauga, where he teaches with the Peel Board of Education. Ernie Enola is an Oakville poet who did not begin writing poetry until the age of 81. His poetry moves from the humorous, to social problems and includes descriptive imagery. Admission for Poetry Café events is $5, payable at the door, and includes readings by local poets as well as feature and guest poets, a chapbook of poems read at the event, a draw for door prizes www.ymcaofoakville.com Arts Briefs and an open mic session for those who are interested in reading their own works.
