Police have identified him as Ian Minielli, 33, who was critically injured when his car failed to negotiate a ramp from Walker's Line onto the eastbound QEW just after midnight Aug. 27. The car plunged into eastbound traffic, striking another vehicle with five occupants. OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford said Minielli was driving a small car and entering the highway on an eastbound ramp from Walker's Line when he missed a curve and went straight into traffic, colliding with the eastbound car. He was thrown from the vehicle, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Hamilton General Hospital in critical condition. The occupants of the eastbound car on the highway -- a Burlington man driving with four female passengers including two women visiting from Hong Kong -- were also injured. Two of the occupants of the second vehicle remain in hospital with serious injuries. Three have been released. The OPP are looking for witnesses to the collision and have asked anyone with information to contact Constable A. Reid at the Burlington OPP Detachment at 905-6812511. Minielli is survived by his parents Cheryl and Nick Minielli of Oakville.
