But most of them -- more than 75 per cent, in fact -- came from Oakville, making for another outstanding turnout at the annual event. More than 1,150 runners and walkers were treated to sunshine, music and an electric atmosphere along the Oakville waterfront. Serbian-born Pedrag Mladenovic of Toronto won the Half Marathon for the third consecutive year, completing the race in 1:09:28. Cindy Lynch of Barrie was the female champion, posting a time of 1:25:25. In the event's 10K race, Woodlawn's Peter Rehbein (35:46.4) and Toronto's Carolyn Silvey (40:09.1) were the respective men's and women's champions. The Labour Day Oakville Half generates significant charitable donations for its charity partners; the Oakville Hospital Foundation, Oakville YMCA and the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada.
