The Charity Casino and Silent Auction will begin at 6 p.m. at the Oakville Conference and Banquet Centre. All proceeds from the event will go to support the non-profit resource centre that serves both the Peel and Halton regions. The IARC provides practical resources, information and peer support to help those who are caring for a loved one at home. The centre opened in November 1997, a natural extension of Ian Anderson House, the sixbed cancer hospice next door. Margaret Anderson, founder and executive Director of both Ian Anderson House and Ian Anderson Resource Centre, notes the growing need for the IARC in the community. "The Ian Anderson Resource Centre fills a gap in the community by offering muchneeded support to the families who are coping with the difficult task of caring for their loved ones at home," said Anderson. The IARC is a registered charity and depends on the generous support of local organizations, foundations and individuals to provide its programs, services and resources without charge. Tickets cost $100 per person and include a champagne reception, buffet dinner with wine, $20 in casino gambling chips, silent auction, dancing and door prizes. The evening will also include one live auction item of an overnight package to the Fallsview Casino Resort.
