OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, September 23, 2009 · 26 New look, new luxury sedan at Mercedes-Benz Oakville By Cathy Carther Newly renovated and expanded Mercedes-Benz Oakville Autohaus officially re-opened on September 21 with an evening event that paid homage to both its past and future. A 1950s-inspired event brought together customers, friends, founding dealer Andy Meray and executives of Mercedes-Benz Canada to celebrate one of the nation's longest running Mercedes-Benz retailers. The evening was hosted by MercedesBenz Oakville owner Sylvester Chuang and his senior management team. The Oakville dealership is one of the three oldest dealerships in Canada, having opened in 1959 by Andy Meray and his father. In 1963 the dealership moved from its original Rebecca Street location to its present day site on the South Service Road, at the time surrounded by orchards and fields. And while the event was clearly reminiscent of the early days, with bobby sockers, live music and vintage cars aplenty, the true focus of the evening was clearly the stateof-the art new facility and the unveiling of the new E-Class sedan. "The design of this building incorporates so many of the elements that make up the Mercedes brand," commented Marcus Breitschwerdt, president of Mercedes-Benz receive top marks in APEAL survey Metroland Newspapers Carguide Magazine According to the latest J. D. Power APEAL survey, Mercedes-Benz and smart drivers are particularly satisfied with their vehicles. In this comprehensive customer survey the Mercedes-Benz S-Class was awarded the highest number of overall points for the third consecutive year, making it the best car in its segment and also in the entire market. Other segment winners were the SLK-Class and, for the first time, the smart fortwo, which was named the best car in the Sub-Compact segment. The results were re-leased by the internationally renowned market research institute, and underline the high level of satisfaction MercedesBenz customers experience with the quality and design of their new cars. The 2009 APEAL study ("Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout Study") by the market research institute J. D. Power reflects how satisfied car buyers were with their new cars after driving them for three months between December 2008 and February 2009. Around 81,000 new car buyers delivered their verdict on a large number of aspects in a detailed questionnaire. These included driving characteristics, exterior and interior design, operating functionality, storage space, and even details such as the noise made when closing the doors. Some of the new safety technologies are: adaptive headlights, drowsy driver alert, blind spot alerts, lane-keeping guidance, parking assist, adaptive cruise control and predictive braking systems.
