Construction on a $1.7-million new track and field started on Aug. 17. Included in the project are field lights. The school board believed it had all approvals from the Town's planning department to complete the project, but was told the lights could not be installed. "We were advised by the Town initially that we didn't require a site plan and we agreed with that position and we clarified it again before we released the contract," said Giacomo Corbacio, HCDSB facility management services in an interview with The Oakville Beaver. "Then after we started construction, we were advised by the Town we did need a site plan application, but we interpret the Planning Act differently.
