Solar photovoltaic meeting Wednesday The Halton Residential Solar Project (HRSP) is holding a photovoltaic information meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 30 from 7-9 p.m. in the South Atrium at Oakville Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Rd. The public meeting is to share information on the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) MicroFIT program. Since the introduction of the Green Energy and Economy Act, the OPA has been working quickly to finalize the details of a program called the Feed-in Tariff (FIT). Under that program, a person can enter into a contract with the OPA to sell electricity to the grid. For small systems, a streamlined process known as MicroFIT will apply. The details of FIT and MicroFIT have been released and finalization is expected shortly. Expert speakers will discuss the details of MicroFIT and the financial implications. Michael Yakimchuk is a professional engineer with Hydro One Networks. Ryan Colwell is a certified financial planner. Both are Halton residents interested in seeing more solar panels in Halton.
