The boost in enforcement, which began in Oakville on Sept. 8 and ended on Sept. 18, snagged area drivers for a number of infractions including speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, driving dangerously around school buses, stop sign violations and driving violations in school zones. "At this time of year, we like to remind motorists to exercise extra caution in school zones and on all our roadways to help ensure that students walking to and from school can arrive safely," said Halton Police Chief Gary Crowell. "Project `Safe Start' has proven to be a very effective way to put traffic safety top of mind again with all motorists."
