LIESA KORTMANN / OAKVILLE BEAVER Fight at Sheridan Halton regional police have arrested a 22-year-old Burlington man following a Tuesday fist fight at Sheridan College. Police said the incident began at around 2:10 p.m. when a 20-year-old Mississauga man, who attends classes at the college, got into a verbal argument with the Burlington man, who does not attend the college. Moments later, the Mississauga man was punched in the face and a fight ensued. A Sheridan College security guard attempted to break up the dispute, but was kicked in the groin. With the arrival of police all parties involved in the incident were examined for injuries and the Burlington man was placed under arrest. Michael Lee has been charged with two counts of assault and one count of breaching probation. A MUST DO: John and Emine Nielsen are destined to take part in a famous road race, La Carrera Panamericana, in Mexico -- that is only for vintage cars. They're leaving town in their '65 Mustang Fastback to drive there at Thanksgiving. For story, see page 7. No Raitt investigation: ethics commissioner By Tim Foran METROLAND WEST MEDIA GROUP The Parliament of Canada's conflict of interest and ethics commissioner has decided not to investigate the circumstances of a Halton Conservative Association (HCA) fundraiser held in support of local MP Lisa Raitt in late September. Both NDP MP Olivia Chow and Liberal MP Paul Szabo had asked Commissioner Mary Dawson to investigate the matter after it was revealed last week that invitations to the Sept. 24 fundraiser were sent from the work e-mail account of Janet MacDonald, an executive assistant at the Toronto Port Authority (TPA), a federal agency. Raitt had served as president and CEO of the TPA prior to being elected last year. Jocelyne Turner, the press secretary for Raitt, the minister of natural resources, wrote in an e-mail to the Milton Canadian Champion (The Oakville Beaver's sister newspaper) Tuesday night, "the ethics commissioner cleared Minister Raitt of any wrongdoing in this matter." Asked to confirm Turner's statement, a spokesperson in Dawson's office respond See Money page 9
