Hundreds of power plant opponents packed Town Hall's committee rooms, Tuesday morning, many holding picket signs stating `Power Plants and Homes Don't Mix.' At the heart "The nature of the matter of the matter is under appeal here is not one an interim conthat involves the broad trol bylaw and Official Plan public. It is very tied to the amendment, rights of the land owner." passed by the Town in March, Gerald Swinkin. which ban the Ford of Canada lawyer construction and expansion of power plants with a capacity greater than 10megawatts. The generating station is to be built by TransCanada on Ford-owned property at 1500 Royal Windsor Drive . Date set for Sara Carlin inquest The date has been set for the inquest into the death of Sara Carlin of Oakville. Dr. Bonita Porter, Deputy Chief Coroner for Inquests, announced Friday that Nov. 2 will be the date the inquest begins. Carlin, 18, died May 6, 2007, at her home in Oakville. The inquest will focus on the role of selective antidepressants in teenage suicides. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. The inquest is expected to last four weeks and will be held at the Toronto Coroners Courts. Dr. Bert Lauwers will preside as inquest coroner. A request for an inquest by Carlin's parents was originally turned down in June 2008 by Regional Supervising Coroner, Dr. David Evans. However, this was overturned in December by Ontario Chief Coroner, Dr. Andrew McCallum, as part of an appeal process to the regional coroner's decision.
