www.oakvillebeaver.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, November 11, 2009 · 10 Police believe same suspects behind two drugstore holdups Two recent robberies at the Upper Middle Road Pharmasave appear to be connected, according to Halton police. The first robbery was foiled when three female store clerks began screaming. Police said the foiled robbery began around 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5 when two men entered Pharmasave at 1500 Upper Middle Rd. One was brandishing a three-foot sword and the other a knife with a five-inch blade. The man with the sword confronted a clerk at the cash register while the second man with the knife went behind the pharmacy counter at the rear of the store. However, when the three female employees in the store began to scream and made good their escape -- out a rear door of the store -- police said the screaming scared the two suspects and they, too, fled the store -- out the front door. Nobody was injured during the robbery and nothing was stolen. One suspect was described as a white male in his 20s, five-foot-nine with a medium build and brown eyes. He wore a navy blue O'Neil brand hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head and a dark-coloured bandanna concealing the lower portion of his face. The second suspect was also a white male, in his early 20's, five-foot-10, with an average build and brown eyes. He wore a grey jacket with a hood that was pulled up over his head and a dark-coloured bandanna covering the lower portion of his face. A few days later on Monday, Nov. 9 shortly after 8:30 p.m., two men entered the same Pharmasave store. The suspects were wielding kitchen knives. They went straight to the pharmacy area where they confronted two staff members. As soon as the male and female employees saw the two suspects they escaped through a back door. Left alone in the store, the two suspects stole an undisclosed amount of prescription medication before fleeing out the front door of the store. The suspects were described as a white male in his early 20s, five-foot-eight with a medium build. He wore a small-brimmed black hat with a red bandanna concealing the lower portion of his face, a white sweatshirt, jeans, dark-coloured running shoes. The second suspect was a white male in his 20s, five-foot-11 with a heavy build. He wore a white hat with a dark coloured bandanna concealing the lower portion of his face, a baggy, white, long sleeved T-shirt with a grey eagle logo on the front, jeans and white running shoes. Police believe the suspects are responsible in both incidents.
