CCARE director honoured for Guatemalan relief work Oakville's Hilda Rossi, founder of Canadian Central America Relief Effort (CCARE) will receive the top award for 2009 from the Guatemalan Canadian Association ASOGUATE. This is the group's third year in handing out the award that recognizes a local member of the Guatemalan community for their effort and achievement in their chosen discipline, profession, humanitarian or solidarity work. "For the calendar year 2009, ASOGUATE has nominated you as the recipient of this award as a recognition for the humanitarian work that you have accomplished as founder and director of the Canadian Central America Relief Effort (CCARE)," states a recent letter Rossi received notifying her of the award. The ever humble Rossi said she does not need the recognition for the efforts, which are near and dear to her heart. Rossi will receive the award during ASOGUATE's annual Christmas celebration to take place on Saturday, Dec. 19 at St. Phillip Neri Church's Community Hall on Jane Street in Toronto.
