The 19-year-old Chetrat completed the race in a meet-record time of 1:57.60. OAK teammate Mack Darragh, 15, added a silver in the men's 400m individual medley, posting a club-record time of 4:22.63. The Toronto meet was the first of three Canada Cup events this season. Meets will be held in Vancouver and Montreal in 2010. Marni Oldershaw, Tera Van Beilen, Annie Harrison and Julie Calvert also represented OAK at the Canada Cup meet. Oldershaw finished sixth in the women's 400m individual medley, while Van Beilen came seventh in the women's 200m breaststroke and eighth in the 100m breaststroke. Calvert and Harrison finished in the top 16 in two events each. Ian Chambers led the way, winning five gold medals. Shannon Russell added four gold, Jacob Mallet won three, and Graeme George, Joseph Jedrej and Nicholas Pinney contributed one each. Taylor Cherry, Jennifer Hu and William Tsounis won at least one silver medal apiece. Jessica Pinney, Alina Santos, Tiago Santos, Kyle Sue-A-Quan and Guinevere Dewitt earned bronze. Adding top-eight finishes were Julian Almeida, Liam Cherry, Mark Grodski, Serena Grodski, Peter Hribljan and Tal Koren. The meet attracted 10 other teams from the Greater Toronto Area. Blades split, Ice sweeps in weekend play The Oakville Blades split two home games last weekend in Ontario Junior A Hockey League play. Oakville fell 6-3 to the Aurora Tigers Friday at Joshua's Creek Arenas, then rebounded the following night to blank the Villanova Knights 4-0. Steven Hickey, Mike Ingoldsby and Nick Scamurra scored Friday for the Blades, who outshot the Tigers 38-31. Saturday, Josh Ranalli paced Oakville with a pair of goals and Mike Morissette made 27 saves for the shutout. Kyle Lysaght and Mark McGowan also tallied for the Blades, while Steven Guzzo contributed two assists. The Blades (22-5-1) remain in third place in the league standings, five points back of the Georgetown Raiders (24-4-2) with two games in hand. The defending champion Kingston Voyageurs (29-1-1) own a nine-point lead for first in the standings. Oakville will continue its sixgame homestand this weekend with two more games at Joshua's Creek Arenas. The Mississauga Chargers visit the Blades Friday and the Milton IceHawks are in town Saturday. Both games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. starts. Ice wins pair A pair of wins last weekend vaulted the Oakville Ice back into the thick of things in the Provincial Women's Hockey League standings. The Ice defeated the Etobicoke Dolphins 3-1 Friday and Durham West Lightning 4-1 Saturday, improving to 7-9-3 on the season. Oakville currently sits 11th in the league, but trails the Ottawa Lady Senators by only one point for eighth place (Ottawa has four games in hand). The top 16 teams in the league make the playoffs, with the top eight earning home-ice advantage in the first round. Jaclyn Conacher scored in both victories for the Ice. Gabrielle Leonard and Hayleigh Cudmore rounded out the Oakville scoring in the road victory over Etobicoke. Cassie Albertine, Megan O'Neill and Andrea Zeismann had the Ice's other goals in the home win against Durham West. Ice netminder Michelle Scanlan earned the victory in both games, while Lisa Donachey contributed three assists on the weekend.
