Lacrosse all-star teams include five local players Oakville residents took up nearly a fifth of the spots available on the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) all-star teams this season. Five of the 26 players named to the teams were from Oakville. Attack Justin WilsonKirby (Guelph) and goaltender MarcThomas Nano (Western) were selected to the All Canada West team, while attack Alex Kruse (McGill) and defencemen Brendan Farrer (McGill) and Mark Kingston (Bishop's) were nominated for the All Canada East squad. Farrer is the first lacrosse player in McGill history to have been named to CUFLA's All Canada teams in four consecutive years. Kruse had 12 goals and 18 assists in 10 regular-season games, then added two goals and a helper in two playoff contests. Kingston earned four assists during the regular season for Bishop's. Wilson-Kirby scored 18 goals and added 11 assists in nine regular-season games for Guelph, adding a goal and a helper in one playoff match. Nano backstopped his club team, the Edmonton Eclipse, to the Alberta Lacrosse Association junior A championship last summer. Peewee Rangers roll in Lake Placid Two Minor Oaks Hockey Association peewee rep teams were crowned champions at the recent Lake Placid Challenge Cup tournament. The Oakville peewee A and peewee AE Rangers combined to go 10-0 at the tournament, outscoring their opponents by a total margin of 52-4. The peewee A Rangers outscored their opposition 21-0 while winning all four of their preliminary-round games, then defeated the Bradford Bulldogs 5-1 in the final. Members of the team are Jordan Boulding, John Carney, Craig Cook, Michael CLEAN SWEEP: The Oakville peewee A Rangers (pictured above) and peewee AE Cookish, Niall Currah, Mitch Dennis, Daniel Rangers (below) both won all five of their games to earn gold at the recent Lake Placid Devlin, Adam Goraieb, Nick Greco, Sean Keating, Vincent Reale, Liam Risi, Luke Roy, Matt Siminot, Challenge Cup tournament. Blake Stewart, Brett Switzer and Trevor Szaniawski. Dominic Reale, Steve Roy and Don Switzer coach the team. The trainers are Tom Stewart and Robert Cookish, and the manager is Mark Boulding. The peewee AE Rangers also went 4-0 in pool play, scoring 26 goals and allowing only one. Oakville doubled up the Ridgefield Lions 4-2 in the gold-medal game. Team members include Anthony Antonakos, Ryan Bell, Michael Bradshaw, Aidan Challis, Luke Corbeth, Julian Davies, Luke Dibenedetto, Connor Droog, Cameron Elliot, Reece Feijo, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Robbie Forasiero, Nickolas Jedryk, Thomas Law, Justin Menne, Cole Ouellette and Brandon Wood.
