Bob passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital on November 29, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob leaves behind and will be sadly missed by his estranged wife Fern, daughter Kim and husband Romano and granddaughters Talya and Kyra, son Lloyd and Joanne and his special friend and father in law Howard Stansell. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Bev (Eddy), brothers Brent (Carol) and Craig as well as the many nieces and nephews and other close family members. Bob had a successful business in the Oakville/Burlington area due to his honesty and hard work ethic. If there was a song the emulated Bob in both his business and family life, it would truly be "I did it my way". Honouring his wishes, his family will hold a service in Manitoba where Bob will be buried along side his father Robert and mother Rose. His family would like to thank the doctor's and nurses at Joseph Brant who cared for him. A special mention to Dr. Lori Chalklin whom Bob a d m i r e d f o r h e r c a r e a n d h o n e s t y. LARSON, Joan (1920-2009) - With great sorrow, the family announces t h a t J o a n Tr u e m a n L a r s o n ( n e e Purdy) passed away quietly on December 28, 2009, in her 90th year. Joan is the widow of Eric Larson. She is pre-deceased by sisters Eleanor Purdy and Marion Martin and is survived by a brother (Dr. James Purdy), her sons Peter (Lorraine Farkas) and Douglas (Dawn Ewing), 5 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Although she always thought of Nova Scotia as her real home, she was a resident of Oakville for over 55 years. She was a long time member of the Oakville Club where she was active in badminton and tennis until she was nearly 80. She also participated actively in a n u m b e r o f O a k v i l l e c o m m u n i t y o rganizations including the IODE and the Lung Association, and was for many years a volunteer at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. In addition to being a terrific cook, she was an active bridge player and voracious r e a d e r. A f t e r s u f f e r i n g a s t r o k e i n October, her health declined rapidly. She never complained and was ver y appreciative of the kind and generous support she received from many family and friends. After a Boxing Day family reunion at her bedside, her last words were, "That was a wonder ful Christmas!" Her family would like to give special thanks for the attentive care provided by the staff at Churchill Place in Oakville. A memorial service will be held in late January.
