www.oakvillebeaver.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, January 6, 2010 · 16 More big changes coming for East Side Marios Just a year and a half after their grand re-opening, East Side Mario's Winston Park is preparing for another big change a change in management. Over the coming weeks, the family owned and operated restaurant will see owners Dave and Susan Christensen's son take on the role as the new general manager. "Susan and I will continue to own and operate our East Side Mario's restaurant here in Oakville with our son Cory acting as general manager with my wife's assistance," Dave explains. Looking to start the next phase of his career and to follow another life-long passion, Dave has accepted a position at the Pride Marine Group in Muskoka at the Lake of Bays location. "After the restaurant business my first passion has always been boating and I have wanted to pursue this passion for the last couple of years," he says. "This will enable me to pursue my passion for boating at the same time." Though Dave is embarking on a new venture, the restaurant will remain the same. "We aren't going anywhere, East Side's will still be in the family." What has not and will never change is this family owned business' personal dedication to customer satisfaction. Dave and Susan have operated their restaurant hand-in-hand for the past 11 years. Proud parents of 6 children, this family works as a team to ensure the success of the business is maintained. Small town restaurant gets raves from big city Oakville's own fine dining Italian eatery Cucci was recently reviewed by a national paper, The Toronto Star. "We were very proud and excited to receive three stars from a national publication." says owner Doug Greco who opened Cucci two years ago. "It is not everyday that a restaurant outside of the Toronto boundaries gets this kind of attention." Word of Cucci and the review have spread quickly. People from all over Ontario have been calling the restaurant looking for gift certificates and reservations to experience Cucci for themselves, family and friends. Always trying to stay on top of the latest food trends, Chef di Cucina, Gordon Goss has been recently invited to the world renowned elBulli restaurant in Catalonia, Spain to do a twoweek placement under Chef Ferran Adria this summer. Though every detail is important to the staff at Cucci, it is sometimes the little things that get remembered the most. "It's a given that coats are whisked away and napkins place on laps. What's surprising are the small touches, like the offer of reading glasses in different strengths or tabletop purse hooks for female diners," Amy Pataki says in her Toronto Star review. Cucci Crespelle Cucci is not only a go-to destination for fine dining; it is the perfect place for a girls-night-out or a relaxing evening. Eat breakfast, lose weight! · · · · Falafel Souvlaki Shawarma Taboule Seafood Mixed Grill (NC)--Mom told you breakfast was the most important meal of the day and she was right! You may think that skipping meals would help you lose weight, but research suggests the opposite. Skipping meals may actually promote weight gain and some research indicates that people who skip breakfast are much more likely to have weight problems than those who don't. So think about what gets in the way of a healthy breakfast. Here are two common roadblocks and some tips to overcome them: Breakfast Roadblock #1... Not enough time. For those who seem to never have enough time in the morning for breakfast, the key is to keep quick, easy breakfast choices available. A great breakfast includes foods from three of Canada's Food Guide food groups especially a whole grain, such as Multi-Grain Cheerios, some fruit or fruit juice and a protein food like milk, yogurt, peanut butter or some nuts. These kinds of foods will give your body the energy it needs after fasting all night and keep you satisfied well into the morning. And if you're watching your weight, it's good to know that people who enjoy lots of whole grains tend to have healthier body weights than those who don't. Breakfast Roadblock #2...No appetite for breakfast. If you're not a big fan of eating soon after you wake up you can wait a little while, but don't postpone it too long. If this means you need to eat breakfast during your morning commute to work, plan a breakfast you can eat on the way such as an individual size yogurt, a juice box and a portable container with whole grain cereal to munch on. 2157 Royal Windsor Drive, Mississauga www.ambianceofindia.com QEW SOUTHDOWN RD DOW 905-403-9900 Dorval Kerr 134 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville OPEN: Mon.-Thurs. 11-11 Fri.-Sat. 11-11:30 905.338.1888 BROMSGROVE RD LUNCH: Mon. - Fri. 11:30 am - 2:30 pm DINNER: Mon. - Thurs. 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm Friday 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm Saturday 12:00 pm - 11:00 pm WINSTON CHURCHILL NC Lakeshore Rd. 2157 ROYAL WINDSOR DR We also offer Take-Out We offer CATERING SERVICES for all occasions.
