A member of the national sledge hockey team since 2003, he has scored 13 goals and added 10 assists in 12 games at the past three world championships. Canada was scheduled to be back in action today (Thursday) against Germany. Semifinals of the six-team tournament are slated for tomorrow (Friday), with medal games set for Saturday. Batchelor top Canuck Olympic hopeful snowboarder Jeff Batchelor was the top Canadian in halfpipe qualifying Tuesday at the 2010 Sprint U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix in California. POKE CHECK: Loyola Hawks goaltender Justin Sheremeta comes out of his net to challenge Iroquois Ridge's Andrew Kwast during Monday's high school boys' hockey clash at Joshua's Creek Arenas. The game finished in a 3-3 draw as Ridge and Loyola both finished the first half of the season with undefeated records. The Halton league realigned its divisions this week with the top six teams from the first half going to Tier 1 and the bottom teams moving to Tier 2. Dolphins finish 2009 in style The Oakville Dolphins completed the 2009 season with a big splash. The club earned top performing team honours at the Alex Buaman Invitational swim meet in Markham recently, winning 85 gold medals, 49 silver and 31 bronze. Dolphins athletes also managed to set 16 club records. Leading the way for the Dolphins were Zixuan Li (eight individual gold medals, seven club records), Sinead Russell (seven individual gold, one club record) and Shannon Russell (seven club records). The Dolphins' girls' 11-12 4x50-metre freestyle relay team also posted a clubrecord time that ranks the team first in Canada in its age division. Other gold winners for the Dolphins were Nicholas Armstrong, Jennifer Baker, Maggie Burns, Ian Chambers, Lauren Dixon, William Dixon, Andrew George, Christiane Gionet, Courtney Gregorian, Jennifer Hu, Peter Kruzyk, Jacob Mallet, Meaghan McCann, Meryn McCann, George Papangelakis, Jennifer Pinney, Conor Russell, Christian Sbaraglia, Olivia Sbaraglia, Kurt Schubert, Katie Tsounis, Marc Vani, Erin Wilson and Stella Zhao. Bronwyn Evans, Larissa Ruiz, Christina Tanninen, Christopher Tanninen and Sarah Tsounis won silver medals. Oakville MINOR FOOTBALL OAKVILLE TITANS REGISTRATION Don't Miss The Gunners win Disney showcase The Oakville under-18 Gunners boys' soccer team won the tournament title at the prestigious Disney Chelsea Showcase Copa Championship, held recently at the Disney Wide World of Sports Stadium in Orlando. Marco Natale, Kris Karifilov and Alex Biafore scored for the Gunners in the final as Oakville blanked Georgia's Cobb FC 91/92 3-0. Jonte More and Brandon Galea-Andrews split time in goal for Oakville to share the shutout. Earlier in the tournament, the Gunners defeated Soccer of Columbia United 2-1, fell 3-1 to Dallas TFC 91/92 and edged Florida Soccer Alliance Lightning 2-1. Sasha Radosevic (two), Michael Tait, Ricky Maimmonis and Karifilov had the Oakville goals in those games. Other members of the team are Brian Bennet, Jeremy Gaylor, John Nardozzi, Marshall Slipp, Kordan Kotsopolous, Chris Telford, Lucas Andrade and Cameron GaleaAndrews.
