U14 Thunder rolls at Toronto tourney Members of the Oakville Thunder under-14 girls' volleyball team did things the hard way at a recent tournament in Toronto. Despite losing the first set in both its quarterfinal and semifinal matches, the Thunder rallied to reach the championship game and then defeated Toronto West 25-20, 25-18 to earn gold. "It was a great tournament for us. We needed to re-focus a couple of times, but we were still confident enough to come through when it mattered," said coach Peter Walker. Oakville finished first in pool play, including a win over Toronto West. En route to the finals, the Thunder defeated rival Halton Hurricanes Blue 2-1 in the quarter-finals. Members of the team are Chantel Silveira, Emma Henry, Tiffany Turchyn, Logan Hannay, Jennifer Morassut, Dani Myers, Kendra Wynter, Lyndsey Allingham, Amanda Brown, Julie Kaczrorowska and Melanie Stirling.
