7 · Friday, February 12, 2010 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.oakvillebeaver.com Power plant opponents will march on Queen's Park The residents' group Citizens for Clean Air (C4CA) is asking all Oakville residents to join them in a Tuesday, March 2, rally at Queen's Park against the 900-megawatt gasfired power plant proposed for the Ford-owned lands of 1500 Royal Windsor Dr. The group wants Premier Dalton McGuinty to implement an immediate moratorium on the proposed plant after a an explosion at a 620-megawatt gas-fired power plant under construction in Middletown, Connecticut killed five construction workers and injured 12 others. "We want to maintain awareness and pressure on this situation," said Doug MacKenzie, C4CA president. "We need to raise awareness particularly at Queen's Park that there is an issue here, people are interested in it and it needs to be properly addressed."
