Morrison Hershfield Limited has been retained by the town to undertake the engineering design work for this project. Interested members of the public, local businesses and agencies are encouraged to attend a public information meeting (PIM), which is being held to seek public input and comment on the project. Information pertaining to the proposed design will be on display and members of the project team will be on hand to discuss any issues or concerns you may have. The proposed improvements involve reconstructing the existing roadway to a two-lane urban cross section with on-street parking. Concrete sidewalks are proposed on both sides of the roadway in conjunction with the provision of concrete curbs. The roadway drainage will be conveyed by the existing storm sewers and outlets. Street lighting will be improved throughout the project area. Enhancements for the pedestrian environment are also proposed on Navy Street from Randall Street to Lakeshore Road including intersection improvements at the intersection of Navy and Randall Streets and the installation of new pedestrian signal at the intersection of Navy and Church Streets. The project is being designed in accordance with the requirements of the planning and design process as a schedule A+ project (pre-approved with public notification), as described in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, 2007 documents.
