The awards are designed to both support Halton's youth who have achieved environmental excellence in their schools and community and inspire others to take the same action. The awards are split into two categories: · The Halton Youth Awards for Environmental Scholarship support Halton youth who have chosen to pursue post secondary studies that relate to the environment. Award winners in this category will receive a $1,000 scholarship. · The Halton Youth Awards for Environmental Excellence recognize an appreciation for the environment in our youth and raise awareness of local environmental initiatives, giving Halton elementary and secondary students the opportunity to win $500 for their school. Submission deadline for both categories is March 12. Award winners will be recognized at the Regional Chair's Breakfast on the Environment, held at the Burlington Convention Centre on April 20. Craig Kielburger, founder and chair of Free the Children, will be the keynote speaker at the event, which will be attended by local students and the business community.
