Oakville well versed in Poetry Month this April April is looking to be full of readings and recitations throughout Oakville with plenty of free and open to the public events during Poetry Month. However, there are events coming up that require pre-registration. Poet hopefuls are asked to email Poetry Month co-ordinator Elka Ruth Enola at ere@bell.net by Monday, March 15 a list of the poems they wish to read at the events listed below On April 7 Paradiso Restaurant is hosting a night of poetry and pizza, pasta and salad from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a buffet dinner along with poetry readings. There is no set topic for the poetry. Tickets cost $10. On April 11, the Moonshine Café is hosting Poetry With a Conscience from noon to 2 p.m. The poems must relate to topics such as the environment, child abuse, war, peace, social equality, racism, gender issues, democracy or others. The event is free. On April 25, the café is also hosting Poetic Multiculturalism from noon to 2 p.m. Poems will relate to life in other countries or about various Canadian cultures. Culture could mean anything from the rich and the poor, the religious or the secular or even gender cultures. The event is free. People are asked to send separate e-mails for each event that state the poem or poems they wish to read.
