Oakville placed sixth on a list compiled by the web security firm Symantec. Neighbouring Burlington topped the list. The reason for the high placement of Halton's two largest communities? Residents are wealthy, connected and targets for online thieves, scammers and spammers. Symantec looked at the number of cyber attacks, virus infections and spam and factored in Internet and wireless access as it drew up its list. "This study is a real eye-opener, demonstrating that larger urban centres, such as Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, which have a diverse mix of high and low income communities, don't necessarily have the same level of Internet access as do wealthier suburbs like Burlington, Oakville and Kelowna," said Lynn Hargrove, director of consumer solutions for Symantec Canada. "Residents in areas with more access to computers, the Internet and WiFi hotspots will go online more often to shop, bank and communicate with family and friends, making them greater targets for cybercriminals." Female pedestrian killed on QEW Ontario Provincial Police are appealing for the public's help to identify vehicles involved in a fatal hit-and-run on the QEW Friday night. A woman was found dead on the highway at Dorval Drive by police when they were called to investigate reports of a pedestrian being struck. The incident happened just before 9 p.m. No vehicles involved in the collision remained at the scene. Police have not yet released any information about the woman. She was found in the eastbound (Toronto-bound) lanes of the highway. Police said they suspect she was hit by at least two vehicles. All eastbound lanes remained closed for five hours to allow the OPP to investigate the collision. Traffic was diverted off the QEW on to Dorval at the Dorval off-ramp and back on via the QEW on-ramp. Anyone with information about the incident, or who believes they may have struck something on the QEW at about 8:50 p.m. Friday night, is asked to call the OPP at 905-681-2511 or 1-888-310-1122.
