At the March 23 meeting of the board Tom Bartlett, president of Halton Pro-Life, presented the 2010 Culture of Life Award to the board. "The annual Culture of Life Award was instituted by Halton Pro-Life five years ago to recognize an individual or organization who, through their own expertise and sphere of influence, has worked to build a Culture of Life -- a culture that welcomes, supports and celebrates human life in all its stages from conception to natural death," Bartlett said, in addressing the board of trustees. "It is with great pleasure that we present the 2010 Culture of Life Award to Michael Pautler, director of education, Bob Van de Vrande, chair of the board and the Halton Catholic District School Board, for their role in supporting, encouraging and fostering a Culture of Life in the Catholic high school communities of Halton." A plaque of appreciation was presented to the board with Halton Pro-Life executive director Tom Kelly saying that each Halton Catholic school that currently participates in pro-life discussions and events will receive a plaque from Pope Benedict XVI. It was noted that all eight Catholic secondary schools in Halton run a pro-life club. "It's very significant that the Halton Catholic board be recognized in this manner and we acknowledge the work that your group does in the community," Van de Vrande told the Halton Pro-Life delegation. Burlington Catholic school board trustee Joanne Matters, a past executive director of Halton Pro-Life, said after last week's school board meeting that she is excited by the interest shown in pro-life issues by Halton Catholic board students. The school-based, pro-life clubs are student-led groups that are overseen by an adult. Matters said students in the clubs will have the opportunity to attend The National March for Life event in Ottawa that is slated for May 12-14. She expects two busloads of students, about 100 people, representing all Halton Catholic high schools to attend the annual rally. She said approximately 8,000 people from across Canada were at the 2009 march, about half of them students. 40 % 30 % SUSHIS, SASHIMIS START ONLY $3.50 W/COUPON All Take-Out order (All day) All Tepanyaki Menu OFF (Need Reservation) Monday - Saturday KIDS MEAL FREE (6 & Under) DINNER WITH MOVIE SPECIAL ($8 / TICKET) TAKE-OUT & RESERVATIONS 20 % 10 % OFF All Nigiri, Sushi or Sashimi with Sake, Wine or Beer order (5pm-9pm) 1 10 S AV E A N A D D I T I O N A L % VALID APRIL 1-APRIL 22, 2010 OFF THIS COUPON CANNOT BE COMBINED WITH OTHER PROMOTIONS.
