Oakville Hydro hires new CEO Oakville Hydro Corporation (OHC) has appointed a man with more than 25 years experience in energy services to head its operations. Robert W. Lister was chosen as the utility company's president and chief executive officer and will begin his post Monday, April 19. "On behalf of the board of directors, we are very pleased Mr. Lister has accepted our offer," said OHC board chair Gary Burkett, in a press release. "Mr. Lister's undoubted experience in the energy industry, his engineering background and his ability to operate at the highest level in terms of leadership, stakeholder and customer management within a large organization make him an ideal choice for the job. We look forward to experiencing continued success thanks to the innovation and foresight he will bring to this position." Lister has held various positions over the years, including senior leadership roles with Toronto Hydro, Earth Energy Utility Corporation, OZZ Energy Solutions and Horizon Utilities Corporation. He is a professional engineer and has a degree in engineering and management and a Master's degree from McMaster University. "We look forward to Oakville Hydro's future success under Mr. Lister's leadership and vision," said Mayor Rob Burton, in the release. "Providing a safe, reliable supply of electricity and developing renewable green energy solutions are important components to achieving Oakville's vision of being the most livable town in Canada." Lister is replacing Alex Bystrin in the position. Bystrin resigned in November 2009. Until now, Ray Green, Town of Oakville CAO, has acted as interim acting president and CEO of the utility company.
