She was the devoted mother of Sonya (Rob Palmer), Terri, Larissa, and Greg (Marilotte Bloemen) and wonderful grandmother to Courtney, Ali, Charlie, and Christian. Predeceased by her cherished brother Jim Chwartacky (2002). Loving sister-in-law of Irene Chwartacky and aunt to Steven and Andrew. Born in Toronto, daughter of Martin and Dora Chwartacky, Nettie moved to Oakville in 1956 and has been a life-long resident ever since. A teacher in the Catholic school system and for many years a piano teacher, her legacy continues in all those she taught and nurtured. She will be much missed and deeply admired by those close to her for the dignity in which she handled herself in her later years in the face of tr ying circumstances. B u r i a l a t S t . G R E E N , C a r o l Ly n n - C a r o l p a s s e d away peacefully on the evening of Saturday, April 3, 2010, at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie following a brief, brave and never "giving up" battle with cancer. She was 47 years old. Born March 11, 1963 in Oakville, she was the daughter of Victor (deceased) and Sylvia Firman. Born and raised in Oakville, Carol attended Gordon E. Perdue High School and then graduated from Sheridan College where she earned her Law and Security Diploma. She began her career with the Ontario Government as a Corrections Officer in Hamilton and then moved to Barrie where her family lived. There, she met her husband Michael while working with him at the Barrie Jail. Following the birth of their daughter, Rebecca, Carol chose to be a stay at home mom. Carol will be fondly remembered for her "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff" approach to life. She loved camping, being outdoors, animals, country m u s i c a n d m o s t i m p o r t a n t l y, h e r family. Carol was a loving wife to her husband Michael, devoted mother to their daughter Rebecca. She is survived by her sister and best friend Kris Thompson (Bruce), mother Sylvia Firman and grandmother Mary Batuik. A celebration of her life will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, on Thursday, April 8, 2010. Family and friends will be received at 10:00 am until time of funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 am. A special "thank you" to the doctors, nurses and staff on 3 North B at RVH for the exceptional care they provided and the many hugs.
